Sam Boutros, professional makeup artist, training manager & brand ambassador of NYX Cosmetics Arabia encouraged the youth using makeup to take the ‘less is more’ approach at the 24th edition of the Beautyworld Middle East.

Boutros did a makeup tutorial at the ‘Front Row’ which was a new show highlight scheduled for all three days of the exhibition.

Beautyworld Middle East 2019, the largest international trade fair in the region for fragrances, hair and skin care, beauty products, hygiene and wellbeing ran from 15-17 April at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and featured 1,790 exhibitors from 66 different countries.

Front Row was an educational programme featuring expert opinions of successful business brands in panel discussions and live on-stage makeup and hair demonstrations interspersed with entertaining shows.

In his 45-minute live show ‘Makeup Masterclass with Sam Boutros’, Boutros’ shared his techniques and preferred innovative products used to acquire a flawless complexion.

Boutros said: “Makeup is something personal. It will enhance your beauty and help you have a glow; it is meant to make you feel more comfortable. Make up is beyond accessory; it is an essential thing in our lives.”

Boutros has worked as a makeup artist for the stage, fashion shows, photo shoots, film festivals and movies. Additionally, he has been into product development, education, communication and marketing and believes that he has done “a 360 in the world of makeup.”

“In my experience of 15 years, I witnessed big changes in the gulf region. People used to love to put on very heavy makeup but nowadays they’re more into light weight makeup with a glow.

“Earlier, they used to do a lot of fair skin for their faces even if they were dark. They would use whiter shades to lighten up their skin but now they are more aware about choosing the right shade of product for their face because it’s about being proud of who you are.”

Boutros highly prioritizes skincare: “The skin is the canvas where we build our makeup. If you have perfect skin your makeup is going to look much better and will require a lot less products.”

To all the youth who use makeup he iterates his one advice: “Use makeup wisely. Do not overdo it: less is more.”
